Several problems.

Broken rod.

Nick in cylinder wall but it it may be below compression area.

Bent tappet guide.  This is part of the cast block and it is doubtful that it can be fixed.

Thinking this block is junk.  Too bad because the cylinder on this one is at most .005 over.  It could be used.

I may try bending the tapped guide back and installing a used rod.  But I doubt it is worth the effort.  Better to spend a the bucks for a new rod and .020 piston to fix one of the two worn out pressurized engines.

Need to check the 31x707 engine to see what shape it's innards are in.

Valve Timing Mark for Intek 31

Briggs Intek engines require that the valves be set with the piston 1/4" past TDC on the power stroke.

I had one apart so while I was there I filed a timing mark on the flywheel with the piston at 1/4 inch past TDC.

 First I positioned the piston.
The I used a file to mark the flywheel using the edge of the magneto as an indicator.

This has to be more easier and more accurate than stuffing a screw driver down the spark plug hole.

The one drawback is that the magneto is not fixed.  On this particular engine there is not enough play in the bolt holes to matter.  But one could always set the flywheel to the mark when working with the coil.

Craftsmen LT1000(2)

Removed the deck and took the engine off today.   Removed the pulley stack and left the belt guides in place.

Drained the oil and it has gas in it. Need to move the engine to the proper shop to open it up.

I want to measure the bore and if the problem is a seized rod the head has to come off anyway.

The deck is missing parts.  At least 1 tensioner pulley.  Need to get an image and compare it to the parts list. Maybe compare it to the YTS's deck.

The JD111 and Craftsman LT1000(2) arrive.

The JD111 is about what I expected.

C111K 159438M

111 1981 (155001-190000)

So it was made in 1981

Wonder if the rear mounted gas tank is the original.

The center and right box contain the blocks for 2 opposed twins.  One  vertical and one horizontal.  The box with the new crank is in front.  The real surprise is the box on the left.  It contains most of a new 8HP Tecumseh engine.  HM80

Found these images relating to the gas tank and the correct location.

The LT1000 was another pleasant surprise.   Not only does it look good but the engine turns.  Maybe a loose bolt or something it that came loose when it was trailer over to my house.   Not sure how much is missing from the deck yet.

Dozer blade 48624414?

Need to see if this is indeed the blade I have.  It is naked in that everything past the pivot is missing.  According to sears it need to go on a GT.

Craftsmen LT1000(2)

Craftsman 15.5 hp 38 in. Deck, LT 1000

The sears page says Added on January 01, 2000

Not yet sure it is this exact tractor but the hood matches and I was told it was a 15.5HP.  This is a very low end LT.  No headlights and a 15.5HP engine.

More images of the 2nd LT1000.

Nose looks good.  Wonder if there are any problems not seen in this image.
As stated earlier deck is missing parts not sure which.  I expect a spindle or two.  May have spares.

Is it possible that this tractor has a good seat?  Is it dirty or damaged?
It is another Intek. New intek 15.5HP on ebay with current bid of $107 free shipping.  That is tempting but expect it will go higher.

The engine is locked up. Not sure why.  With luck it is can be fixed and is not worn out.

The guy who I am getting this from is decent about not loosing parts.  Hope to get a complete tractor here.
