CRISIS: Blogspot account problems.

My ISP is migrating its customers from google apps to regular google accounts.  My blogs are now owned by a new account but not the images.  Google has a method in place for transferring them but it fails with a 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR.  Posts on the web indicate this can happen if there is not enough storage space on the destination account but this is not the case.  Others say it just fails to work at times.

The plan is to backup all the accounts to local zips using googles tool to do so
https://www.google.com/takeout/?pli=1,   That will take days or even a week.  Once all the files are safe I can try to construct a single working google account.

I requested that google zip my images and am still waiting.

Status Update

6.5HP OHV Briggs moves to the running list.  It still needs an exhaust gasket and a elbow installed in the carb but that can happen when the parts come.

Status Update

Depending on how one counts things I am getting near the 1/2 way point on the list of projects. But then it was the easy half,  Note that I do not expect to fix all the engines as some will need parts or tools that are too expensive to obtain.

The 8HP Briggs moves from the In progress to the Running list.  Still needs its gas tank coated and a few other things.

The Go-Putz moves from the Unstarted to the In progress list soon.

Moving the 2A016 from the In progress list to unstarted because I have not touched it.

The unidentified Wisconsin is S-8D.  The big problem I know of is the missing carb.

Running   1st, 3rd, 4th Little briggs, Clinton PHD, Briggs 8HP

In progress  Cooper Klipper, Winco Generator, AENLD,  Briggs 6.5OHV,  3Z107B SpeedAir, Go-Putz

Terminal 2nd little Briggs with a bad exhaust valve guide

UnStarted
2A016 with a suspected broken rod,
10HP Briggs which may need just a carb clean,
Wisconsin S-8D without a carb or exhaust.

Status Report

It is getting hard for me to keep up with where each engine is at so I expect anyone reading this is confused too.  I am separating the A016 Military Engine from the SpeedAir compressor projects.

Summary 18 Projects Total
5 Running
2 Unrepairable at this time
6 In progress
5 Unstarted

Little Briggs Engines 2 and 3 HP

1. Running. Needs an air cleaner and a shroud with recoil. 1st Little Briggs

2. A good looking bore but has been shelved because of a bad exhaust valve guide.  For now it is the parts engine. 2nd Little Briggs

3. Waiting on fuel pump diaphragm.  Sloppy keyway which maybe OK with lapped flywheel. Has fired up with a prime in carb. . 3rd Little Briggs

4. (Red IC Engine) Running. 4th Little Briggs

5. (WinCo POWER-MITE generator)  The plan is to get this generator working.  About all I have done is remove the fan shroud which is missing its pull starter (busted off).  Has a rope cup.   Saving this on for later because it has the most complex connections to the carb and governor.  WinCo Generator

6. (Cooper Klipper Trim)  Just really started work on it.  Now have spark but it did not start when it was turned over with the pull start. Cooper Klipper Trim

Other engines.

Briggs 8 HP L head.  Cleaning gas tank and carb.  8 HP Industrial Plus

Briggs 7 1/2 HP OHV.  Have not looked at it.

Briggs 10 HP L head on insect fogger.  Have not looked at it.

Spare AENLD   Have the carb cleaned but need to put the float in.  Magneto does not work yet.  Need to check the oil pump and put the clutch back on.  AENLD

Mystery Wisconsin.  Have not started on it.

Roller AENLD  Working.

Clinton Power Auger Working

2A016 Military Engine  sounds like a tossed rod or busted crank.  Clunk.  Need to tear it down to find out.

The SpeedAir compressor may be salvageable if I can get the last head off. 3Z107B Compressor

WEEDEATER 20" RUNNING

Newly Added

Kohler 13 or 17 HP in closet.  Have not looked at it.

Old gas powered week whip from my deceased friend Bill.  Not sure of the brand I think it was bought out by ryobi.

Ariens RM1332 with a Briggs IC 13 HP.

Meet the Candidates

This past summer I obtained several used, used up, and abused engines.   Generally I prefer to have engines that actually serve a function rather then sit on the shelf.  But I expect I will end up with a few when all is said and done.

As I start on each engine I will start a post for it.

Auto Augar with Clinton 2 stroke
Status: RUNNING

This Clinton powered AutoAugar post hole digger was on its way to be melted down for scrap.

It was missing the pull start, had a messed up hand throttle, and needed carb work. The carb bowl gasket was bad so I cut one using my cricut.  Clinton recoil starters are pricey so I used the recoil starter and the cup from a Tecumseh parts mower.  It does not bolt on but firmly friction fits against the original mounting studs.   I tried it out and it digs about as well as any on the one man units now being sold.

Essick VR30RE
Status: RUNNING (engine only)

Two of the largest engines are 9.2HP AENLD Wisconsin's.  The first is on an Essick VR30RE road roller.  Rebuilding the carb and cleaning up the magneto was enough to get the engine running. The roller need a bit more work. Read about that journey at VR30RE.BlogSpot.com.

AENLD
Status:  IN PROGRESS

About the time I started working on the roller my neighbor showed up with another AENLD in his pickup.  The fellow who gave it to him said it ran which I am sure was true when it was last started.  At the time the engine on the roller was not working and I was thinking I might have to do an engine swap. The magneto from this engine is currently on the roller and I am in the process or rebuilding the carb.  This one does seem to have less hours on it and better compression.

Currently I am working on the carb and the magneto needs new points.

WEEDEATER 20" mower
Status: RUNNING

When the renter next door moved out he offered this mower to another neighbor.  The seen that it had been sitting without an air cleaner and was very difficult to turn over. After they rejected it I grabbed it.  A bit of PB blaster in the cylinder fixed the problem with it cranking hard and seafoam in the gas cleaned up the carb. An exact match for the air cleaner came from a donor mower.  It looks and runs like new.  And if you want one wallmart is selling a big wheel version for about $165.

Admittedly it is a cheap mower but it is lightweight and cuts well for me.

Cooper Klipper Trim
Staus:  UNTOUCHED

This little gem was also on its way to the scrap yard.  It has what I think is a 3hp B&S with a vacu-jet carb.  The chains are rusted in and I have not tried to turn over the motor.

Note to self:  Do a post on vacu-jet and pulsa-jet carbs.

Ariens RM1332
Status: TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE

I picked up the Ariens 2 years ago and it burned a bit of oil  It has gotten to the point that the coil consumption is so excessive I fear to run the engine.   It has a 13HP B&S IC engine.  It does a super job of leaf collection.  We call it go-putz.  Note: standard sized chrome rings 392331

The city auctioned off some of their old equipment using sealed bids.  We had the winning bid on the VR30RE and a lot of small engines.  It included 6 trash pumps, 10hp briggs insect fogger, a mystery wisconsin and a 15KW briggs powered genset.  There is also a 3 cylinder speedair compressor powered by a 2 cylinder military engine.

I want to include a better picture of the compressor here.  The motor is hard to see in its current paint so I will also include an image of what it is supposed to look like.  Either the motor or the compressor is seized.  It also has a delco generator/start unit as does the VR30RE.  It would be so cool to have this working and self start.
