DIY IPOD Tripod mount

Back in the days of film I used to make my own camera shoes.  A camera shoe bolts to the bottom of the camera and is clamped by the tripod.

The light colored plywood bit with the bolt is one of these shoes.  The dark wood in the background is brazilian cherry and will be used to make the IPOD shoe.

The bottom bit of wood is the new shoe. The top part has a slot to accept the IPOD.  Make the slot wide enough to hold your phone and case, deep enough to keep it from falling off.  If I am working in close quarters where I might bump the tripod I use a rubber band to secure the phone.

Sheetrock screws hold them together. This is a very hard wood so the screw holes were drilled.
