Craftsman LT1000(2)

Craftsman 15.5 hp 38 in. Deck, LT 1000

The sears page says Added on January 01, 2000

Not yet sure it is this exact tractor but the hood matches and I was told it was a 15.5HP.  This is a very low end LT.  No headlights and a 15.5HP engine.

More images of the 2nd LT1000.

Nose looks good.  Wonder if there are any problems not seen in this image.
As stated earlier deck is missing parts not sure which.  I expect a spindle or two.  May have spares.

Is it possible that this tractor has a good seat?  Is it dirty or damaged?
It is another Intek. New intek 15.5HP on ebay with current bid of $107 free shipping.  That is tempting but expect it will go higher.

The engine is locked up. Not sure why.  With luck it is can be fixed and is not worn out.

The guy who I am getting this from is decent about not loosing parts.  Hope to get a complete tractor here.

The 2nd YTS3000 has a bad frame.   It wiggles like a snake when driving over a bump.  So I took its 21.5 HP engine and put it in this LT1000.     Put larger tires on the back.

I have been using it as a yard tug and a few trips a week to coffee, about 1 mile each way.

It has a few problems:

  • Loud, the muffler may not be tight against the exhaust pipe.
  • Once in a while it sounds like a belt guide is scraping a pulley.
  • Recently developed what sounds like an axle squeek.
Due to the last one I have parked it till I get a chance to look at it.  With luck greasing a front wheel will fix it.

Grease fixed the squeak.  It still makes the scraping noise for a short while after you hit a bump.  I think this is what caused the origian motor drive pulley to be sharp.  It dropped on my forehead and cut me when I removed it.  Muffler is still loud.

I have been using this tractor with transplanted 21HP Intek for 2 years.   The engine is overkill for a yard tug.  Working on moving this motor to a Craftsman GT.  Maybe put a much smaller motor in this tractor maybe possibly put a deck back on it.  Nah!
